For the next month up until Feb 15th. I’ll be uploading Nigh Heaven & Hell pics every Sunday/Wednesday to promote the Global Manga Initiative Awards!
Nigh Heaven & Hell was nominated and they’re awarding production donations to the top voted series!
It’d be an honor to place, and be able to use the funds to go to conventions that are out of town, and pay for book printing this con season.
Please vote for Nigh Heaven & Hell! And i’d greatly appreciate if you could spread the word however you can! Reblogs. Reposts. Etc! <3
Thanks for all your support! ;u;

Happy New Year
I hope you guys all had an incredible year. My year was made infinitely better because of your support.
I finally found the printer I’ve been looking for. They have a quick turn around time and it seems like they have good quality. They also do many other things such as bookmarks and the like. My first round ordering those things didn’t go so well. The bookmarks were ultra tiny and I never received the postcards. That being said, the bookplates are adorable, I hope you’ll enjoy them.
At any rate, I’ll be sending out surveys over the course of the week and at least starting the shipping labels for everything. That’ll be one less thing to do when the time comes to ship things out.. Thank you all for being so patient. Chapter 3 and 4 are in the pipeline (my external hard drive broke and I have to retype Chapter 4), they just need edits and everything.
My schedule is less ridiculous and time consuming. Some days I had 3+ hour commute, but things are changing for the better, so yay! That’ll be more time I can sit and really focus on sending these rewards out. I thank you once again for your patience and support.
Take care everyone!

Slowly but surely progress is being made!
Huzzah, I finally got some time to myself and was able to order the Kickstarter postcards, bookmarks, and bookplates. I will get the art prints and books later this week. The rewards will likely go out after Christmas because I will be swamped with work for the next few weeks and really won’t have time to put things together until Christmas break (the blessing and the curse of being a teacher). I thank you so much for your patience, but we are getting there.
Argh, I forgot to update the tumblr too!
Sorry for the radio silence. I thank everyone for being so patient.
So there’s some good news:
Back in April when I started this kickstarter, I stated that I was willing to pay for rewards out of pocket. (BAD IDEA!!!) I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of support I received from everyone, but I was also overwhelmed with the amount of rewards I promised. Even after months and months of planning, I broke every kickstarter rule regarding rewards. This past summer, my job dried up (there’s hardly any tutoring students for the summer).
In October, I got a full time, long term position that has been extended at least until November. (yay!) I also found a semi-local printer that I’m interested in working with, so i won’t be having to pay double shipping costs. The good news is that I’ll slowly be making progress on the rewards. Once again, I can’t give an exact timeline, but now that I’ve got some money flowing in, I can actually get things going. I have Veteran’s Day off (for the most part, I mistakenly scheduled some work related stuff that day) and I will be hustling to get everything done.
The comic itself is nearly finished. Crystal, our lovely and talented artist, actually got it into the hands of a few editors at New York Comic Con. Read about it here: http://scotty6000.tumblr.com/post/64311606721
As a side note, I’m debating about having Beyond Beauty be print only? Does anyone have any thoughts about this?
Thanks for your contribution and your patience. Stay beautiful.

The above question was asked a few months ago, and I used it for a long blog post on my webcomic Nothing Can Possibly Go Wrong’s website. Here’s a quote to get you started:
“So here’s an awful truth: if you pursue ANYTHING, be it comics, writing, movie-making, acting, piracy or clog dancing to a professional level, if you seek to make this one thing your life’s work, you will meet people along the way who will discourage you from making a thing you love into a thing you do well and a thing you (possibly) do for money. I’m not talking about Random Internet Idiots who like to hide behind anonymity and snipe at you that your comics suck, I’m talking about respected industry professionals, people whose opinions are worth your time, telling you that your work suuuuuuuuuuucks and you should probably reconsider your quest to become a professional artist.“
Read the rest at Nothing Can Possibly Go Wrong (scroll past the comic page).
I remember reading this when she first posted it, and it really helped me think more clearly about my pursuit to try and draw comics for a living.
The way I see it is this. Draw. Just draw what you want and learn at your own pace. It takes time but you’ll learn. No matter how hard it gets, just stick with it. It’ll come naturally. <3
I had a long drawn out post, but I think the answer is simple. Keep doing what you love, if you have a passion for something, then haters shouldn’t matter.
Also, know the difference between sound advice and b.s. Back when I was a web fiction writer, there were so many people telling me how they thought my story should be, not really critiquing me on how my story actually was. Looking back on it, my story wasn’t all that great, but nobody was telling me how to fix it. You have to be prepared for all the scrutiny and none of the answers.
When I started Beyond Beauty, I was excited to get everything done quickly and I almost jumped into a kickstarter campaign too soon. A veteran comic writer gave me some sound advice about making comics and the choices I had to make. To be honest, I came away from that conversation a bit freaked out and discouraged. It takes some soul searching when you hear things that don’t match up with what you want to hear. That doesn’t mean the comic writer was wrong. In fact, he was incredibly right and very nice to talk with me. His advice was incredibly helpful and it was sound advice. Don’t discredit someone’s advice just because it’s not what you wanted to hear.
I hope you don’t let haters stop your dreams, but also listen to the wise people who know what it’s like.
